Biographie
Depuis sa sortie des études en 1991 (Master en arts du spectacle, ELICIT, ULB), Arnaud Demuynck a écrit une soixantaine d’histoires comme scénariste de cinéma. En tant que producteur, il a accompagné près de 100 auteurs et autrices dans leur écriture et dans la réalisation de leurs œuvres. Il a également réalisé 25 films, principalement des courts métrages d’animation, des unitaires télé et un long métrage.
Dès 2010, il a commencé à s’intéresser de près au conte pour accompagner les séances jeune public qu’il présente dans les salles de cinéma. Cette activité s’est étendue aux écoles, bibliothèques, petites scènes en festivals, et a pris plusieurs voies comme l’écriture d’albums illustrés (édités par L’Apprimerie, Paris) ou de Kamishibaïs (édités par LIRE DEMAIN, Paris).
A partir de 2015, il approfondit sa formation à l’art du conte, autant pour s’adresser à un public adulte qu’au jeune public. Il suit une formation à l’école internationale du conte de Bruxelles (Théâtre de la parole) et participe aux ateliers d’Henri Gougaud, de Michel Hindenoch et de Racontances (Dominique Brynaert). Il continue à découvrir par ailleurs différentes approches de l’oralité, comme avec Melissa Baker (Centre de formation et d’exploration des contes, L’Atelier à histoires) et Nathalie Leone (Contes et impro - La Huppe Galante, Paris).
Il exerce aujourd’hui régulièrement, à côté de son métier d’auteur cinéaste et de producteur, sa pratique du conte sur des scènes ouvertes, en cabaret, lors de Balades contées, chez l’habitant, en bibliothèque, dans les écoles, et toujours dans les cinémas ou les centres culturels avec, en 2026, son premier spectacle, La voix des oiseaux, ciné-conte mêlant le cinéma à l’art de la parole.
Biography
Since graduating in 1991 (Master's degree in Performing Arts, ELICIT, ULB), Arnaud Demuynck has written around sixty stories as a film screenwriter. As a producer, he has supported nearly 100 authors in their writing and in the production of their works. He has also directed 25 films, mainly animated short films, television films and one feature film.
In 2010, he began to take a keen interest in storytelling to accompany the sessions for young audiences that he presents in cinemas. This activity has expanded to schools, libraries and small festival stages, and has taken several forms, such as writing illustrated albums (published by L'Apprimerie, Paris) and Kamishibai (published by LIRE DEMAIN, Paris).
From 2015 onwards, he furthered his training in the art of storytelling, both for adult and young audiences. He studied at the International School of Storytelling in Brussels (Théâtre de la parole) and took part in workshops led by Henri Gougaud, Michel Hindenoch and Racontances (Dominique Brynaert). He also continued to explore different approaches to oral storytelling, working with Melissa Baker (Centre de formation et d'exploration des contes, L'Atelier à histoires) and Nathalie Leone (Contes et impro - La Huppe Galante, Paris).
Today, alongside his work as a writer, filmmaker and producer, he regularly practises storytelling on open stages, in cabarets, during storytelling walks, in people's homes, in libraries, in schools, and always in cinemas or cultural centres. In 2026, he will present his first show, La voix des oiseaux (The Voice of Birds), a cinematic storytelling show combining cinema with the art of the spoken word.
